Wrongful Death/Medical Malpractice: $1.42 million settlement on behalf of a 55 year-old dialysis patient who lost his life when the area through which he was dialyzed ruptured resulting in massive bleeding. The patient received dialysis therapy over the course of several years through an arteriovenous graft (AVG). During the course of his dialysis therapy, the arteriovenous graft began to deteriorate. Regrettably, the health care providers involved in the patient’s care did not identify the deterioration of the patient’s graft or, more importantly, the dangers that were associated with the damaged vascular access site.
