$50,000 – Life Insurance/Breach of Contract

Life Insurance/Breach of Contract: Life insurance carrier tendered insurance policy proceeds, plus interest, to the insured’s widow after the carrier received notice that the carrier breached the insurance policy to the policy’s beneficiary. The insured was a 57 year-old man who died due to aortic stenosis. When the man’s wife requested the life insurance policy benefits, which totaled $50,000, the insurance carrier rejected her claim. Upon receiving notice that the widow intended on pursuing legal action to enforce the terms of the life insurance policy, the insurance carrier tendered the entire policy, plus interest, to the widow.
